Speed Geeking

5 Minutes. One Idea. Minds Blown.

Some of the most useful professional learning starts with one practical idea shared at just the right time, and your expertise could make a difference.

Speed Geeking is a fast-paced, high-energy featured session at giftED26 where educators share resources, teaching strategies, activities, tools, and tips that colleagues can use right away. Each selected presenter has 5 minutes to highlight one idea with immediate value for gifted education classrooms and programs.

Hosted by Brian Housand, Ph.D., Coordinator of the Academically or Intellectually Gifted Program at University of North Carolina Wilmington, Speed Geeking 2026 will be held 4:30 p.m.–5:30 p.m., Thursday, December 3, during giftED26.

You can share your expertise by submitting a proposal by October 9.

More About Speed Geeking

Speed Geeking brings together a rapid lineup of educators, each sharing one useful idea in a short presentation during a one-hour session at giftED.

This is not a traditional conference session or an in-depth training. It is an opportunity to introduce attendees to a resource, strategy, activity, tool, or technique and show them why it is worth exploring.

Think practical, focused, and ready to use.

Selected presenters will have 5 minutes to share their idea.

Speed Geeking 2026 will be held 4:30 p.m.–5:30 p.m., Thursday, December 3, during giftED26.

Consider ideas that gifted education professionals can adapt or apply immediately, including:

  • Classroom strategies and teaching techniques
  • Activities that deepen thinking, challenge, or engagement
  • Digital tools and practical uses of technology
  • Resources that support gifted learners or G/T programs
  • Differentiation ideas
  • Time-saving tips, templates, or routines
  • Creative approaches that have worked in your classroom, campus, or district
